Interventions Alliance appoints strategic adviser to strengthen work with local authorities
Interventions Alliance has appointed Matt Johnson, outgoing Chief Executive of Commercial Services Group (CSG), as a Strategic Adviser to support the organisation’s next phase of growth and to further strengthen its work with local authorities.
With a strong track record of delivery for central government, Interventions Alliance is already working with a small number of local authorities to reduce harm and support vulnerable people with complex needs, for example through the provision of domestic abuse refuges. To build on this, Interventions Alliance is now focused on extending its impact in partnership with local authorities – ensuring services are shaped around local need and deliver meaningful outcomes for people.
Matt brings significant experience as a strategic partner to local authorities nationwide. Over the past seven years as Chief Executive of CSG, Kent County Council’s trading company, he has led the organisation to become the largest local authority trading company in the country by responding to council priorities and pressures. His understanding of how local authorities operate – and how partners can meet their needs – will strengthen Interventions Alliance’s ability to work alongside them effectively.
In addition to supporting strategic growth, Matt will provide independent scrutiny in key areas of governance, including as independent chair of Interventions Alliance’s Audit and Risk Committee.
Chief Executive of Interventions Alliance, Suki Binning, said:
“Matt’s experience working alongside local authorities, and his focus on building services around their needs, will strengthen how we support councils to respond to vulnerability, risk and complex need in their communities.
“As we extend our work, it’s important that we do so in a way that is grounded in local priorities and delivers practical, high-quality support for the people who need it most. Matt brings both the insight and the challenge that will help us do that well, alongside strengthening our governance as we develop.
“Matt’s appointment reflects Interventions Alliance’s continued focus on working in partnership with local systems to deliver projects that reduce harm and support long-term positive change.”
Matt Johnson said:
“I am delighted to be supporting the team at Interventions Alliance as they continue to expand their services to maximise positive social impact. I have had the opportunity to witness the business operations first hand, to speak to residents and Commissioners, and to see and understand the vital services performed to help transform and improve people’s lives. I look forward to working with local authority partners and helping to deliver crucial work protecting the most vulnerable children and families in our society.”
In its first year of operational independence, Interventions Alliance has demonstrated the impact of its trauma-informed homes and behaviour change practice in supporting people with risk, vulnerability and complex needs. Its trauma-informed homes include Eden House, rated Outstanding by independent inspectors, and its behaviour change services have supported hundreds of people to reduce harm and build safer, more stable lives.
