Interventions Alliance takes on responsibility for two homes for men under probation supervision in Newcastle
Interventions Alliance has taken responsibility for managing two homes for men under probation supervision in Newcastle.
The two homes offer supervised accommodation and support for up to 46 men who have been released from prison or are being monitored in the community. The homes, known as Independent Approved Premises (IAPs), are designed to promote reintegration into society while managing and reducing the risk of reoffending.
The homes are part of a national system managed by His Majesty’s Prisons and Probation Service. Most men supported at the two homes in Newcastle are returning to their community in the city and the surrounding region. Interventions Alliance already runs a similar trauma-informed home for women in Bristol, which won a European award for public protection in 2022.
The transfer took place on 30 March 2025.
Interventions Alliance’s chief executive, Suki Binning, said:
These two homes in Newcastle have a good reputation in the sector, developed by a team with significant experience built over many years.
We believe our dedicated professional standards and research teams will further reinforce the service and help colleagues stay up to date with the latest evidence and best-practice in working with people who are vulnerable, at risk or with complex needs.
Our focus is maintaining stability and certainty. We will work with our residents, colleagues and local partners to further improve this vital service to the men who live in these centres and the communities to which they will return.
